ingredients

ground beef
medium onion, chopped
celery, sliced
green pepper, chopped
garlic clove, minced
canned tomatoes
tomato sauce
water
salt
pepper
oregano
thyme
parsley
crushed chilies
cottage cheese
mozzarella cheese, grated
parmesan cheese, grated
uncooked lasagna noodles

 

instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C)
  2. Brown ground beef in a large fry pan; drain grease
  3. Add onion, celery, green pepper and garlic to fry pan, cooking just until softened
  4. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce and water. Stir in seasonings
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer ingredients in the following order: noodles, meat mixture, noodles, cottage cheese, and mozzarella cheese
  6. Sprinkle top layer with Parmesan. If you have enough depth to the pan you have chosen, repeat the layers (This is a large recipe and can be split up between several baking dishes. I often use two 9″ square cake pans)
  7. Cover and bake for 1 hour
  8. Remove cover and brown cheese under broiler
