Crickle Crackle

Makes: 12 cups

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 8 minutes


  1. Around 40 whole saltine crackers
  2. 1 cup butter
  3. 1 cup brown sugar
  4. 12 oz chocolate chips
  5. 1/2 cup chopped almonds or walnuts (optional)


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Line a half sheet baking tray with parchment paper. Cover with saltine crackers in a single layer.
  3. Boil sugar and butter for 3 minutes. Spread evenly over crackers.
  4. Bake until the caramel is bubbly all over, then bake for 2 minutes longer.
  5. Take out of the oven and let cool.
  6. Melt chocolate chips in the microwave and spread over the carmelized crackers.
  7. Sprinkle with nuts and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  8. Break into bite-sized pieces.

I made Crickle Crackle a week ahead to bring to my parent's for the holidays. I had to make a new batch the night before I left because it was gone! Addictive and hard to stop eating - my favorite kind of treat for a group.
