Icing Sugar Cookies

ingredients

Cookies
icing sugar
butter, room temperature
vanilla
large egg
flour
baking soda
salt

Butter Icing
icing sugar
vanilla
butter, room temperature
milk
food coloring

 

instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)
  2. Beat icing sugar, butter, vanilla, and egg
  3. Add baking soda, salt, and 1/2 cup flour. Mix well
  4. Add remaining flour by the 1/2 cup, mixing after each addition
  5. Roll out dough on counter top (no flour needed)
  6. Cut out shapes & place on cookie sheet, leaving 1/2″ between cookies
  7. Bake for 7-8 minutes. Cookies should not be browned
  8. Remove & cool on baking rack
  9. Whip icing ingredients and spread liberally on cookies
