Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

3/4 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
3/4 cup cocoa (or flour)
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups chocolate chips



  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C)
  2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy
  3. Add vanilla and eggs. Continue beating for 5 minutes
  4. Fold in dry ingredients
  5. Drop by the tablespoon onto an ungreased cookie sheet
  6. Bake for 8-9 minutes
  7. Cool slightly on the baking sheet before removing

These cookies are chewy and moist, and stay good for about a week in a sealed container. Try adding cocoa to switch from regular chocolate chip cookies to double-chocolate overload.
