Salt Dough Ornaments

Makes: 1 dozen ornaments
Ready In: 3 hours
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 1 hour

  1. Preheat oven to 210°F (100°C)
  2. Mix water and salt thoroughly until all salt is dissolved
  3. Add flour and vegetable oil. Stir until stiff, then knead into dough
  4. Flour work surface and roll out dough to 1/2 inch thick
  5. Cut out shapes & place on ungreased baking tray (they will not spread out or rise)
  6. Push a paper clips into the tops of each ornament, then press dough slightly down on top of them to secure
  7. Bake for one hour. Turn off oven and leave in oven to cool. This prevents cracking.
  8. Paint with water-based paints or decorate as desired, et voila!

This salt dough is easy to knead and shape. Larger ornaments get pretty heavy, so keep it in mind when cutting out your shapes!
