Stampot (carrots & beef)

stewing beef
potatoes, chopped
carrots, chopped
onion, chopped



  1. Add stewing beef, salt, pepper, nutmeg, allspice and water to a crock pot
  2. Cook meat on high for 3 hours, or until tender
  3. Chop potatoes, carrots, and onions. Boil until fork pokes into potatoes easily
  4. Drain liquid from the meat mixture and potato pot
  5. Mash all ingredients together
  6. Serve with butter, pepper, and salt

Grandma Rita

This is a traditional dutch meal: a potato-carrot-meat mash. The onions are sweet, the meat savory, and the gravy simply delicious. We like to eat stampot either with gravy or butter and salt on top. This is one of my all-time favorite tastes of home.
