- Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C)
- Sift the first three ingredients together.
- Cut in shortening with a pastry blender or knife and fork until the consistency of pea meal.
- Add milk. Stir with fork until a soft, puffy dough forms.
- On a floured surface, knead the dough 20 times.
- Roll out the dough to 1/2 inch thick.With round cookie cutter or the floured top of a drinking glass, cut out round buiscuits about 4 inches in diameter.
- Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
- Bake for 12 minutes. Let cool.
